Commitment to Safety and Environmental Responsibility

At Argent, we recognize the paramount importance of upholding the highest environmental standards and prioritizing safety throughout the development of our export facilities. LNG represents a compelling opportunity to cut emissions and transition towards a more sustainable energy future. By leveraging the environmental benefits of natural gas and embracing technological innovation, LNG offers a versatile and effective tool for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving air quality, and fostering energy security. As nations commit to ambitious climate goals and strive for a greener tomorrow, LNG stands ready to play a central role in shaping a cleaner, more sustainable world.

Dedicated to responsible environmental stewardship across all project phases, we actively work to mitigate impacts on the coastal ecosystem of Louisiana while fostering a harmonious coexistence with the local environment and communities. Having successfully navigated the pre-filing processes of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the Department of Energy (DoE), Argent LNG remains resolute in its commitment to meeting or exceeding all environmental laws and regulations mandated by federal and state regulatory bodies.

Our unwavering determination is to set the industry standard for environmental leadership. The Argent facility is meticulously designed and will be constructed and operated with a primary focus on safeguarding human health. We adhere rigorously to all applicable state, local, and federal regulations, codes, and procedures.

The incorporation of Diamond Wind in powering the plant brings new wind technology to the liquefaction process, coupled with power generated through highly efficient gas turbines, highlighting our commitment to minimizing overall emissions. This positions our project as one of the most environmentally friendly LNG export facilities on a global scale.

Furthermore, LNG has already incentivized coal-to-gas switching in Europe and the US, but what about the rest of the world? It is critical for the world to transition away from coal and focus on LNG. Notably, Haynesville and Appalachian Gas provide some of the lowest CO2 emission intensities. Additionally, US LNG delivered to Asia offers, on average, a 50% reduction in emissions compared to domestically produced Asian coal. This underscores the significant environmental benefits of LNG and the urgent need for global adoption.

Environment:

It Begins with Planning For the best:

In the initial planning phase for the proposed Port Fourchon terminal site and its associated pipelines, Argent LNG meticulously assesses various plans and route options. The primary goal is to minimize potential impact on natural resources and habitats, including wetlands, water bodies, sensitive areas, and critical habitats.

To achieve this objective, Argent LNG conducts comprehensive on-the-ground surveys to identify areas of concern. Collaborating closely with relevant agencies, we work towards establishing designated areas to avoid. Additionally, we engage in the permit acquisition process to gain approval for our planned activities.

Restoration:

After the completion of construction, Argent LNG is committed to undertaking restoration activities for areas adversely impacted by the projects. In the case of pipeline rights-of-way, restoration efforts will aim to return the areas to their pre-construction condition, as determined by both federal and state agencies. These restoration activities may encompass tasks such as replacing topsoil, replanting native species, and monitoring vegetation growth.

Operational:

During the operational phase of our facility and pipelines, regular integrity management programs will be executed. These programs encompass testing, inspection, and preventive maintenance of equipment and facilities. This proactive approach is essential for ensuring operational safety and preventing any adverse environmental impact.
